Saint George, also known as George the Chozebite, lived in the ninth century in Palestine at the Hozeva monastery located between Jerusalem and Jericho. He was known for his ascetic life and exemplary devotion.
George, born in Cyprus in the sixth century, later traveled to Palestine to visit the holy sites. He joined the Chozeba monastery and eventually became its leader. His life was marked by fasting, vigil, and physical discipline, inspiring his fellow monks. Saint George passed away peacefully, leaving behind a legacy of piety.
In the seventh century, George resided at the Choziba Monastery in Jericho, following in the footsteps of the Venerable John the Chozibite. His dedication to spiritual practices and self-discipline mirrored that of his predecessors.
