A group of students from the Theological Academies of Kyiv and Volyn (Lutsk) of the Orthodox Church of Ukraine, accompanied by Konstantinos Zorbas, Director of the Orthodox Academy of Crete, visited the Holy Metropolis of Rethymno and Avlopotamos on Saturday, August 3, 2024.
The visit began at the Holy Patriarchal and Stavropegic Monastery of Arkadi, where the students were guided by the Abbot, Archimandrite Theologos Papalevizakis.
Next, the students toured the Holy Monastery of Saint Irene in Rethymno. At the Katholikon, they were welcomed by Metropolitan Prodromos of Rethymno and Avlopotamos, along with Abbess Thekla. The visitors learned about the history of the Holy Metropolis and the Monastery, followed by a meal, and the exchange of greetings and souvenirs.
Metropolitan Prodromos expressed his fervent wish and prayer for the cessation of the war in Ukraine, the restoration of law and order, and the normalization of conditions so that Ukraine can continue its progress and testimony. He congratulated the students from the two Theological Academies of the Orthodox Church of Ukraine, wishing them to serve the Holy Church with faithfulness, obedience, and love.
