On Monday, 3 June 2023, in the absence of Ecumenical Patriarch Bartholomew who was overseas, Patriarchal Commissioner, Elder Metropolitan Emmanuel of Chalcedon, conducted a memorial service in the venerable Patriarchal Church of Saint George for the Late Grand Protopresbyter of Ecumenical Patriarchate, Georgios Tsetsis, who fell asleep in the Lord.
“The Late Father Georgios was one of the learned clerics of the Throne, as it is pointed out in the relevant announcement, “and he left behind a rich amount of written works. His contribution to the Mother Church and in the field of inter-Christian dialogues was multidimensional, especially through his many-year term at the World Council of Churches, as an executive and later, for a long time, as a Permanent Representative of the Ecumenical Patriarchate, while, among other things, he was also a deep appreciator and learned scholar of the liturgical Rubrics, of church music, and especially of the “Patriarchal style” and the Phanariot chanting tradition. May his memory be eternal!”
