The service took place at the Church of Saint Dimitrios, the Patron Saint of Thessaloniki, followed by a Doxology for the city’s Liberation, attended by the President of the Republic, Katerina Sakellaropoulou, along with representatives from the political and military leadership.
The Divine Liturgy was led by Metropolitan Nikodimos of Kassandria, joined by Metropolitans Simeon of Fthiotis, Athinagoras of Ilion, Barnabas of Neapolis, Ierotheos of Limnos, Serapion of Paramythia, Ioustinos of Nea Krini, Chrysostomos of Messinia, Nikandros of Irinoupolis from the Ecumenical Patriarchate, Nikiforos of Gortys, Philotheos of Thessaloniki, and Bishop Nikodimos of Skopelos.
