On the evening of Monday, 4 November 2024, a delegation from the Church of St Nektarios in Battersea, London, led by Revd Protopresbyter Christodoulos Christodoulou and Revd Stephen Morys Ireland, accompanied the relics of St Nektarios to the Archdiocesan Headquarters with the blessing of Archbishop Nikitas of Thyateira and Great Britain. The relics were received by V. Revd Archimandrite Nephon Tismalis, Protosyncellus, along with other clergy members, and welcomed into the chapel by nearly one hundred faithful.
The Paraklesis, or Service of Supplication, was led by the Battersea clergy and chanted by a choir from the parish. Protopresbyter Christodoulos expressed his support for the Archdiocese and proposed starting a tradition of celebrating the parish’s patronal feast at the Archdiocesan Headquarters each year. Fr Nephon welcomed the clergy and attendees, conveying Archbishop Nikitas’s gratitude and commendation for the St Nektarios community. He encouraged unity and solidarity among parishes, emphasizing the oneness of the Church.
After the homily, the faithful venerated the relics and received holy oil as a blessing. A reception followed the Service of Supplication at the Archdiocesan Headquarters.
