On the evening of Lazarus Saturday, April 27th, 2024, the Patriarch of Jerusalem, Theophilos, blessed the palm tree branches in Bethsphage. Metropolitan Isychios of Capitolias was assigned to lead the procession with the palm tree branches, accompanied by the chanting of “the general Resurrection before your passion” from Bethsphage. The procession passed through the Holy Monastery of the Ascension, Gethsemane, Saint Stephen, and from the Lions Gate to the Holy Monastery of the Holy Ancestors of God. This procession was in memory of the Lord’s triumphal entry into Jerusalem when the children of the Jews welcomed Him singing “Hosanna to the Son of David.”
The preparation for the procession from the Monastery of Bethsphage was completed under the care of the Supervisor of the Monastery, nun Savvina.
