The President of the House of Representatives held a private meeting yesterday with Pope and Patriarch Theodore II of Alexandria and All Africa, who is currently visiting Cyprus.
Also present at the meeting was Mr. Panikos Leonidou, Member of Parliament and head of the House’s delegation to the Interparliamentary Assembly on Orthodoxy.
Welcoming the Patriarch of Alexandria and All Africa to the House of Representatives, Ms. Dimitriou expressed her sincere gratitude for his valuable support to Cyprus and its people in their fifty-year struggle to end the Turkish occupation and find a peaceful resolution to the Cyprus issue, following relevant UN Resolutions.
Patriarch Theodoros II conveyed a message of love and peace to the Cypriot people, expressing his hope that justice will prevail in their long-standing struggle. He also shared his deep emotions regarding his current visit to Cyprus, which coincides with the twentieth anniversary of his enthronement as Pope and Patriarch of Alexandria and All Africa. He spoke of the significant pastoral and charitable work carried out over these years in Egypt, as well as across the entire African continent.
Before the meeting, Patriarch Theodore signed the Visitor’s Book of the House of Representatives.
