On Sunday, 12 January 2025, at the Orthodox Church of Estonia, in the city of Pärnu and at the Metropolitan Church of the Transfiguration of the Lord, the ordination of Bishop Damaskinos of Haapsalu, who is Finnish by origin, and who belonged to the brotherhood of the Holy Xenophontos Monastery of Mount Athos, took place.
The ordination of the new Bishop was performed by Metropolitan Stephanos of Tallinn and All Estonia, and was attended by the representative of the Ecumenical Patriarch, Metropolitan Bartholomew of Smyrna, Hierarchs of the Ecumenical Patriarchate, Metropolitan Cleopas of Sweden, Metropolitan Maximos of Switzerland, and, on behalf of the Church of Greece, Metropolitan Ignatius of Dimitrias, Metropolitan Makarios of Siderokastron, Metropolitan Joel of Edessa, Pella and Almopia, and Metropolitan Grigorios of Peristeri.
Also participating in the ordination were the Abbots of the Holy Monasteries of Mount Athos, Archimandrite Alexios from Xenophontos Monastery, and Archimandrite Gabriel from Pantokratoros Monastery.
