During today’s Divine Liturgy at the Church of the Transfiguration of the Savior in Kilkis, Ecumenical Patriarch Bartholomew praised the elevation of the Diocese of Polyani to the Metropolis of Polyani and Kilkis as a significant milestone for the local Church.
The Ecumenical Patriarch also highlighted the historical role of the Ecumenical Patriarchate in supporting the faithful during challenging times and its broader contribution to the Nation.
He described the elevation of the Metropolis of Polyani and Kilkis as an important event that deserves a proper celebration and expressed gratitude for the invitation to join the joyous occasion in Macedonia.
Ecumenical Patriarch Bartholomew acknowledged the historical trials of the region, including the loss of ecclesiastical territory and the struggles faced by the local population to remain faithful to Orthodoxy amidst external pressures.
He also reflected on the arrival of refugees from the Asia Minor Catastrophe, who brought with them not only their hardships but also valuable qualities such as piety, devotion, and a strong sense of tradition.
The Ecumenical Patriarch emphasized the connection between the Ecumenical Patriarchate and the Church of Greece, highlighting the importance of maintaining this sacred link.
He commended Metropolitan Bartholomew for his leadership and encouraged the faithful to seek spiritual renewal in the traditions of the Church. The Ecumenical Patriarch asked for prayers as he continues his work in Constantinople and expressed joy in the progress and unity of the Church.
