On Wednesday, April 124th 2024, Patriarch Theophilos of Jerusalem welcomed a delegation consisting of Architect of the Church of the Resurrection, Theodosios Mitropoulos, Theodor Georgi from the Russian Embassy in Tel Aviv, and Sani Azar, Archbishop of the Lutheran German-speaking Community in Jerusalem, along with former Propst Wolfgang Schmidt.
The Patriarch expressed gratitude to the delegation for their support to the Christians in the Holy Land, especially during the challenging times of war.
As a token of remembrance, former Propst Rev Wolfgang Schmidt presented a silver coin depicting bread and wine symbolizing the Holy Eucharist to the Patriarch. In return, Patriarch Theophilos gifted him and the delegation members an icon of the Edicule of the Holy Sepulchre and the Theotokos.
Furthermore, the Patriarch honored Savilov Viktor with the Cross of the Order of the Knights of the Holy Sepulchre for his dedicated work in maintaining the icons of the Patriarchate and the chandeliers of the Church of the Resurrection.
