The Greek Community of Lusaka bid farewell to the former President, Giannis Axiotis, on Friday, May 31.
The funeral service took place at the Holy Church of St. Basil at the Missionary Center and was conducted by Metropolitan Ioannis of Zambia.
During the service, Metropolitan Ioannis praised the deceased for his efforts in promoting Greek culture and serving the Church. He encouraged the late president’s children to carry on his legacy with the same passion.
Eulogies were delivered by his son Alexandros, the current President of the Community, Mr. G. Iliakopoulos, and others.
