With joyful celebrations, the Community of Holy Cross and Archangel Michael commemorated the feast of the Holy Archangels on the evening of Thursday, November 7th, and the morning of Friday, November 8th, 2024, marking the Feast day of the Holy Archangels.
His Grace Raphael of Ilion presided over the panegyric Great Vespers and Matins, as well as celebrated the Divine Liturgy at the Church of the Holy Cross and Archangel Michael in Golders Green, London.
Joining Bishop Raphael in the celebrations were Archimandrite Vissarion Koklioths, Priest in charge, Archimandrite Christodoulos Kokliotis, Oeconomos Christian Akselberg, Archdeacon Dr. George Tsourous, and Deacon Dimitrios Mislis.
During the Great Vespers on November 7th, His Grace ordained Mr. Georgios Tsoukalas, Mr. Andrew Anthony Flourentzou, Mr. Oscar Plamen Rumenov Georgiev, and Mr. Lyuben Vachkov to the office of Reader, recognizing their dedicated service to the parish.
In his homily following the Divine Liturgy, Bishop Raphael highlighted the role of the angelic powers in Orthodox tradition, emphasizing their role as guardians and intercessors for humanity. He spoke of the Holy Archangels Michael and Gabriel leading the angelic hosts in worshiping God and protecting His creation, urging the faithful to draw inspiration from their example of vigilance and devotion.
Following the conclusion of the Divine Liturgy on November 8th, the Community hosted a generous and delicious festal meal, featuring traditional savory and sweet dishes, in the church hall.
