Last month, the Hineni Young Professionals Group in NYC had the honor of hosting Roi and Adan Assaraf, Nova festival survivors, who shared their inspiring story of courage and faith in the face of adversity.
Attending the event with her parents, ninth-grade granddaughter Rivka was deeply moved by the survivors’ testimonies. Reflecting on the night’s message during the car ride home, Rivka shared her thoughts with her grandmother. Despite having a class assignment due the next day, Rivka was grateful for the opportunity to hear such a powerful story and was inspired to incorporate it into her writing assignment.
Her assignment prompted Rivka to write a poignant piece titled “WHAT I’M FIGHTING FOR,” expressing her dedication to her people, her faith, and her hopes for a brighter future. Her words reflect a deep sense of connection to her heritage and a commitment to standing up for justice and truth.
As we witness the challenges facing our youth today, it is essential to instill in them a sense of pride in their identity and a passion for their heritage. The next generation holds the key to the survival and prosperity of our nation, and it is our responsibility to guide and educate them in the ways of our ancestors.
Let us not be complacent in the face of adversity, but rather ignite the flame of faith and resilience in the hearts of our children. Through teaching them the values of courage, faith, and unity, we can empower them to carry on the legacy of our people and secure a bright future for generations to come.
