Ecumenical Patriarch Bartholomew celebrated the 33rd anniversary of his election and elevation to the Ecumenical Throne on Tuesday, October 22. A solemn Divine Liturgy at the Patriarchal Church, presided over by Grand Protosyncellus Gregory, marked the occasion. The Patriarch offered prayers of gratitude for the blessings received during his tenure.
Later that evening, a commemorative dinner in honor of the Patriarch took place at a Greek-American restaurant in Constantinople. Esteemed Hierarchs of the Ecumenical Patriarchate, Ambassador Konstantinos Koutras, Consul General of Greece, and Metropolitan Nathaniel of Chicago were among the attendees. Metropolitan Nathaniel, accompanied by members of the Greek expatriate community from his province, was in the city for the work of the Holy and Sacred Synod.
During the dinner, Patriarch Bartholomew exchanged souvenirs with the event’s organizer, emphasizing the significance of the day and strengthening the bonds of friendship and collaboration among the guests.
