On Saturday, May 18, 2024, the Holy and Sacred Synod of the Ecumenical Patriarchate convened under the leadership of the Ecumenical Patriarch. Deliberating on the agenda, the Synod made significant decisions.
One of the key decisions made was the acceptance of Archbishop Leo of Helsinki and All Finland’s intention to resign. Following a thorough examination of the relevant report by the Synodal Commission on Orthodox Issues, Archbishop Leo’s resignation will be effective at the Clergy-Laity Assembly of the Autonomous Church of Finland in November, where a successor will be appointed.
Furthermore, the Minor and Major Messages of the newly elected Metropolitan Konstantinos of Denver were joyously celebrated.
