On Wednesday, August 7th, 2024, the Patriarchate of Jerusalem celebrated the Feast of the Dormition of Saint Anna, mother of the Theotokos.
During this feast, the Church honours Saint Anna, “who was taken up to heavenly places, the dwelling place of the blessed”, as we sing in her Apolytikion.
On this occasion, Vespers was celebrated in the evening and the Divine Liturgy in the morning by Archbishop Theodosios of Sebastia, along with Archimandrite Stefanos, Fr Farah and Hierodeacon Dositheos in the Holy Monastery inside the House of the Holy Ancestors of God Joachim and Anna, where the Theotokos was born next to the wall of the city in front of Lion’s Gate.
The Hegoumen of the Holy Monastery, Archimandrite Meletios hosted a reception for the Episcopal entourage and the congregation after the service.
