During the Feast of the Transfiguration, Serbian Patriarch Porfirije presided over the Divine Liturgy at the historic Krka Monastery. Speaking to the many faithful gathered at the Monastery of St. Archangel Michael, situated on the peaceful banks of the Krka River, the Patriarch emphasized the core Christian values of peace and love.
In his sermon, Patriarch Porfirije underscored the significance of internal transformation as the genuine route to spiritual rebirth. He elaborated that this transformation necessitates living in unity with oneself, others, and God’s creation, encompassing the natural world. He stated:
“Without peace, any discussion becomes redundant and even senseless. Peace is always a divine gift bestowed upon those who open their hearts to Christ’s teachings. As we grasp the essence of Christ’s message, our lives start aligning with His word. Should we find ourselves astray, disconnected from ourselves, others, and God, it is through heeding Christ’s word and incorporating it into our lives that we gradually evolve. Step by step, we attain harmony with God, ourselves, and all of God’s creation, including the individuals we meet and nature itself.”
The Patriarch concluded by contemplating the deeper meaning of the Transfiguration, encouraging the faithful to realize that authentic change commences from within. “The Feast of the Transfiguration beckons us to comprehend that our lives are not predominantly governed by external circumstances. Only when we undergo inner transformation can we also influence the world around us.”
Through his discourse, Patriarch Porfirije reminded the faithful that the journey towards spiritual rejuvenation commences with inner peace and harmony, ultimately leading to a transformed and harmonious world.
