Under the auspices of Patriarch Porfirije of Serbia, a scholarship award ceremony took place at the Saint Sava House in Zemun, organized by the Hellenic Business Association of Serbia for students of the Orthodox Theological Faculty of Belgrade studying the Greek language.
In an effort to strengthen the spiritual and cultural bonds between Serbia and Greece, the Hellenic Business Association of Serbia, in partnership with the Hellenic Foundation for Culture and with the blessing of Patriarch Porfirije, has been granting scholarships to students of the Orthodox Theological Faculty of Belgrade for the study of the Greek language for four consecutive years.
The ceremony, which highlighted the enduring friendship between the Serbian and Greek peoples, featured a speech by Bishop Petar of Toplica, Vicar of the Serbian Patriarch. He emphasized the importance of studying languages, particularly the Greek language, at the Theological Faculty for a deeper understanding of Gospel truths.
Mr. Vuk Dapčević, Vice President of the Hellenic Business Association of Serbia, emphasized the Association’s commitment to awarding scholarships to students and fostering strong ties between Serbia and Greece.
Additionally, Mr. Bojan Radojičin, Director of the Hellenic Foundation for Culture, spoke about the significance of learning a country’s language to understand its culture and pledged continued support for initiatives promoting friendship between Serbia and Greece.
The event was attended by representatives of the Embassy of the Hellenic Republic, as well as prominent figures from various sectors. Images from the ceremony can be viewed below:
