Saint Julitta, originally from the city of Iconium, fled with her three-year-old son Cyricus to escape the persecution of Diocletian. They traveled to Seleucia and then to Tarsus, where they were eventually captured by the ruler. Despite the ruler’s attempts to persuade Cyricus to renounce his faith, the young child bravely proclaimed his allegiance to Christ and was tragically killed by the ruler.
Saint Julitta, enduring many torments, was also martyred for her Christian beliefs in the year 296. The Holy Martyrs Quiricus and Julitta lived in Iconium, where Saint Julitta, a widowed noblewoman, raised her son Quiricus alone. Fleeing persecution, they were eventually captured and martyred for their faith.
Saint Julitta was tortured and martyred for her refusal to renounce Christianity, while her son Quiricus was killed after bravely standing by his mother’s side. Their relics were later discovered and venerated, with portions of their remains found in various monasteries.
Saints Quiricus and Julitta are honored for their sacrifice and are prayed to for family happiness and the healing of sick children.
