On Monday, Bishop Veniamin, the Bishop of Southern Bessarabia, welcomed Cristian-Leon Țurcanu, the Ambassador of Romania to the Republic of Moldova, and Gabriel Nicola, the Consul General of Romania in Cahul, as reported by the press office of the Diocese of Southern Bessarabia.
During the meeting, His Grace Bishop Veniamin emphasized the missionary activities of the priests within the diocese and expressed gratitude to the guests for their support and encouragement.
He also highlighted the importance of completing ongoing social, cultural, and infrastructural projects to ensure that the faithful feel the love and attention of those who support the mission of promoting Romanian spirituality.
Ambassador Cristian-Leon Țurcanu also visited the church in Taraclia de Salcia, part of the Metropolis of Bessarabia, where he met with the parish priest to discuss community challenges, plans for establishing a social center, and Moldova’s future in the European Union.
The Diocese of Southern Bessarabia traces its roots back to the Diocese of Cetatea Albă and Ismail, established on March 10, 1923, as an integral part of the Romanian Orthodox Church following the Great Union. It is part of the Metropolis of Bessarabia, which was reactivated in 1992.
