The United Nations Recognizes the Patriarchate of Alexandria and All Africa
The Patriarchate of Alexandria and All Africa has recently been honored with a Certificate of Recognition from the United Nations. This certificate acknowledges the Patriarchate’s efforts in environmental protection and addressing the challenges posed by climate change.
In response to this prestigious recognition, Pope and Patriarch Theodore II of Alexandria and All Africa emphasized the Patriarchate’s historical jurisdiction over Africa and its commitment to safeguarding the natural environment. He highlighted the Orthodox belief in the divine creation of the environment and expressed the Patriarchate’s dedication to promoting environmental conservation on both local and global levels.
Metropolitan Seraphim of Zimbabwe, the Patriarchate’s representative to international organizations and the United Nations, was commended for his continuous support in advancing the Alexandrian Church’s environmental initiatives.
