Russian President Vladimir Putin met with Patriarch Kirill of Moscow to commemorate the 16th anniversary of his enthronement.
During the meeting, President Putin congratulated the Primate of the Russian Orthodox Church, recognizing his contributions to both the Orthodox Christian community and Russian society at large.
“Your Holiness, I extend my congratulations on the anniversary of your enthronement and express my gratitude for all your efforts, not only for Orthodox Christians in Russia but also for the entire country,” Putin stated.
In response, Patriarch Kirill thanked the President for his continuous support, underscoring the Church’s role in promoting spiritual and social values in Russia.
“I am sincerely grateful for your care and support for the many members of the Russian Orthodox Church who are also patriots of our nation. I also value greatly the assistance you provide for various important social and educational projects of the Church,” the Patriarch remarked.
He also emphasized the significant advancement of religious life in Russia under Putin’s leadership.
“Under your guidance, religious life in our country has made significant progress. This confirms that, similar to ancient times, the Orthodox Church continues to serve as the spiritual guardian of our beloved homeland,” he added.
