President Volodymyr Zelensky of Ukraine reached out to Ecumenical Patriarch Bartholomew on Friday to convey warm Easter greetings on behalf of himself and the Ukrainian people.
In addition, he extended a personal invitation to the Ecumenical Patriarch to attend the upcoming International Conference for Peace in Ukraine. The conference is scheduled to take place in Lucerne, Switzerland, next June and will bring together Heads of State and Government from around the world.
Ecumenical Patriarch Bartholomew, in response to President Zelensky’s invitation, confirmed his attendance at the conference. He communicated this decision during a conversation with President Zelensky, having officially accepted the invitation presented to him by the Consul General of Switzerland in Constantinople, Roland Brun, in the presence of the Consul General of Ukraine, Roman Nedilskyi.
Expressing his anticipation for their upcoming meeting in Switzerland, the Ecumenical Patriarch reiterated the unwavering support of the Ecumenical Patriarchate for the people of Ukraine amidst the ongoing conflict.
President Zelensky, deeply grateful for the Ecumenical Patriarch’s commitment to attend the International Conference, expressed heartfelt appreciation for the continuous support provided to Ukraine.
