Greek President Katerina Sakellaropoulou had a phone conversation with Patriarch John X of Antioch and All the East of the Greek Orthodox Church to convey her holiday greetings and show solidarity with the Patriarchate during challenging times in the region.
President Sakellaropoulou expressed the Greek people’s warm wishes for the festive season and reiterated Greece’s support for the Patriarchate of Antioch. She expressed optimism that the holidays and the upcoming year would bring peace and prosperity to Syria and Lebanon, given the current situation in the region.
In response, Patriarch John X thanked the Greek President for her backing and emphasized the longstanding historical connections between the Antiochian Church and the Greek community. He also extended his wishes, hoping that the New Year would bring blessings to the people and government of Greece.
