President Katerina Sakellaropoulou of the Hellenic Republic met with Pope and Patriarch Theodore II of Alexandria and All Africa during her visit to Alexandria. She praised Patriarch Theodore for his strong spiritual leadership in Africa despite facing numerous challenges. She also acknowledged his representation of the Greek Orthodox tradition and thanked the Patriarchate for strengthening ties with Egypt.
As a token of appreciation for her commitment to enhancing bilateral relations, President Sakellaropoulou was honored with the Grand Cross of Saint Mark with a star by Pope and Patriarch Theodore II. Following the ceremony, she received a guided tour of the exhibition area and library at the Patriarchate.
