The exchange of visits between Serbian and Russian officials in Moscow and Belgrade is ongoing. The initiative started earlier this month with the visit of the Vice President of Serbia to Moscow and Patriarch Kirill (source).
The Vice President of the Serbian Government, Aleksandar Vulin, and the Serbian Ambassador in Moscow, Momcilo Babic, attended the Divine Liturgy conducted by Patriarch Kirill in the Patriarchal Cathedral of the Dormition of the Theotokos.
Following the Liturgy, a meeting took place in the Patriarchal Office where A. Vulin conveyed greetings from the Serbian President Vučić and Patriarch Porphyrius to Patriarch Kirill. They exchanged wishes and statements about the “fraternal unity” between the Churches of the two countries.
Metropolitan Anthony of Volokolamsk then visited Belgrade and, together with Patriarch Porfirije of Serbia, celebrated the Divine Liturgy in the Belgrade Monastery of the Russian Church to mark the 100th anniversary of the Church. He also criticized the Patriarchate of Constantinople and the Ecumenical Patriarch, expressing Russia’s gratitude for Belgrade’s support.
The most recent visit was by the Russian Minister of Culture to Patriarch Porfirije. During the meeting, Patriarch Porfirije emphasized the spiritual ties between the two peoples based on their common heritage and Orthodox faith.
The Russian Minister of Culture thanked Patriarch Porfirije for his hospitality and highlighted the importance of preserving cultural heritage for future generations. Minister Selaković stressed the significance of strengthening cultural ties between Russia and Serbia as a fundamental value in their bilateral relations.
