On August 11, 2024, Patriarch Porfirije of Serbia led the Divine Liturgy at the Church of Saint Sava in Vračar.
The clergy of the Belgrade-Karlovci Archdiocese joined him in the celebration, along with a devoted congregation of believers.
“Having faith and living by it establishes a firm foundation. This foundation is true and just, aligning all aspects of life as they should be. Through this foundation, one can see God’s hand in everything—His love, blessings, and grace.
This perspective changes the way one perceives, thinks, hears, speaks, and acts. Instead of acting from our flawed nature, our actions are guided by Christ. With Christ, our thoughts, vision, words, and deeds are transformed, leading to a profound change in our lives.
In the absence of true faith, only a superficial declaration of faith distorts everything. Life loses its proper foundation, and our understanding becomes warped. True faith is transformative—it is repentance.
Repentance is a deep transformation, a rejection of our fallen, distorted, selfish nature tainted by self-interest. It is a conscious effort to embrace Christ’s logic and rules for life. By aligning our minds with His, we begin to think, hear, speak, and see as He does. Through Him, we build relationships and community, empathizing with the weaknesses of others. Speaking of Him means speaking of truth, justice, and love,” expressed the Patriarch.
