Today, Serbian Patriarch Porfirije led the Holy Hierarchical Liturgy at the Središče Monastery in the Diocese of Banat. The Patriarch consecrated the newly built temple dedicated to the Miraculous Icon of the Most Holy Mother of God, the Trinity. He then presided over the Divine Liturgy in the newly consecrated sanctuary, joined by Metropolitan Nicanor of Banat and Metropolitan Arsenije of Niš.
During his address to the gathered faithful after reading the Gospel, the Patriarch delivered a message emphasizing the significance of the Orthodox faith as God’s greatest gift to mankind.
He stated, “Since the time of St. Sava, we, as a Christian people, have dedicated ourselves to living, thinking, and behaving in an Orthodox manner. This commitment has led us to build Orthodox churches and worship Christ, the Living God, even in times of persecution.”
Highlighting the foundational principles for every Christian, he stressed that for Orthodox believers, every law must align with the Law of Christ:
“The teachings of Christ, as the teachings of God and the Church, serve as our law in the Orthodox faith. We recognize no other law. Any other regulation or rule holds significance for us only if it is in harmony with the teachings of Christ, with the will of God.”
The Patriarch’s words resonated deeply with the faithful, reaffirming the central role of Orthodox Christianity in their lives and its enduring relevance over time.
