Patriarch Porfirije of Serbia conducted an Akathist service to the Most Holy Theotokos on the evening of March 21, 2025, at the Church of Saint Sava in Vračar.
Following the service, where prayers were offered for inner and outer peace, Patriarch Porfirije delivered a pastoral message to the congregation:
During the third week of Great Lent, Patriarch Porfirije emphasized the importance of finding peace within oneself through God’s grace and inner transformation.
He highlighted the significance of virtue rooted in the Cross, urging believers to surrender their personal will and align themselves with Christ. The Most Holy Theotokos serves as a powerful intercessor, symbolizing hope and faith in times of suffering. Special prayers were offered for the victims of the Kočani fire, particularly for Vukašin, and for the recovery of the injured children receiving treatment in Belgrade.
Patriarch Porfirije encouraged continuous prayers for healing, strength, and peace, emphasizing the essential values of love, understanding, and open-heartedness among individuals.
After the service, Patriarch Porfirije met with the parents of the young patients from North Macedonia who are currently undergoing treatment in Serbia following the tragic Kočani fire. They visited the Church of Saint Sava to seek divine intervention for their children. In their conversation with His Holiness, they expressed deep gratitude for the support extended by the Serbian community.
Presently, thirty individuals injured in the Kočani fire are receiving medical care in Serbian healthcare facilities.
