Patriarch Porfirije of Serbia met with Jean-François Colosimo, a distinguished Orthodox theologian, historian, publisher, and essayist from France, on February 14, 2025, at the Parish House of the Church of Saint Sava in Vračar, Belgrade.
The Patriarch expressed gratitude to his guest for showing concern for the suffering Serbian people in Kosovo and Metohija, where Colosimo plans to visit soon. He is scheduled to meet with Metropolitan Teodosije of Raška and Prizren and visit the Visoki Dečani Monastery during his visit.
Patriarch Porfirije highlighted the challenges he has faced in being denied entry to Kosovo and Metohija multiple times, reflecting the lack of religious freedom in the region. He emphasized the urgent need for international intervention to protect the remaining Serbian population in the area.
Colosimo shared his experience of visiting Kosovo and Metohija in 2010, witnessing the difficult conditions faced by the Serbian people and their Church in the region.
The meeting was attended by several distinguished guests, including Pierre Cochard, the Ambassador of France, and Stanislas Pierret, the Director of the French Institute in Belgrade. Elisabeth-Lilia Colosimo, Zorica Jocković Srdić (translator), Protodeacon Dr. Dragan Radić (Professor at the Faculty of Theology in Belgrade), Deacon Nikola Kostić (Secretary of the Office of the Serbian Patriarch), and Olivera Jovanović (Editor-in-Chief of “Pravoslja”) were also part of the discussions.
