On January 7, 2025, Serbian Patriarch Porfirije celebrated the Divine Liturgy at the Saint Sava Temple in Vračar, Belgrade, on the Feast of the Nativity of our Lord Jesus Christ (Christmas).
The Patriarch was accompanied by Bishop Dositej of Lipjan, Bishop Nikon of Jenopolis, Archimandrites Nektarios and Danilo, as well as various priests and deacons. The Patriarch’s Christmas Encyclical, written by the Serbian Orthodox Church’s Synod, was read during the Liturgy.
In his message at the conclusion of the Liturgy, Patriarch Porfirije emphasized the importance of embodying peace, love, and understanding within families, and spreading these virtues to others. He blessed the congregation and wished for health, strong families, and mutual understanding among all people.
Distinguished guests, including Ivica Dačić, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Internal Affairs, were also present at the Divine Liturgy.
The celebration at the Saint Sava Temple was a beautiful display of faith, unity, and the everlasting joy of Christ’s Nativity. Vladimir Roganović, Director of the Office for Cooperation with Churches and Religious Communities; Monsignor Santo Gangemi, Apostolic Nuncio to Serbia; and Cardinal Ladislav Nemeth, Archbishop of Belgrade, were all in attendance at the event.
