On Wednesday, July 3, 2024, Patriarch Daniel of Romania received Giampiero Gloder, the new Apostolic Nuncio to Romania, at the Patriarchal Residence for an introductory visit.
Patriarch Daniel extended a warm welcome to Giampiero Gloder and wished him great success as he began his diplomatic mission in Romania.
The Patriarch expressed his gratitude for the reception and conveyed his readiness for dialogue and cooperation with the Romanian Patriarchate during his tenure as the Vatican’s ambassador to Bucharest.
Giampiero Gloder emphasized the importance of the involvement of both the Romanian Orthodox Church and the Roman Catholic Church in efforts to restore Christian unity, particularly in the current context marked by multiple crises.
He highlighted that a joint testimony to the fundamental values of Christianity is crucial in facing the many challenges of today’s world.
During their conversation, the Patriarch of Romania expressed his appreciation for the ongoing support provided by the Roman Catholic Church to Romanian Orthodox communities in the Western diaspora.
This support includes offering church buildings for worship and assisting with integrating these communities into their host societies.
