On the Sunday of the Myrrh-Bearing Women, the Church honors Christian Women, with Patriarch Daniel of Romania emphasizing the courage of the Myrrhbearers and presenting them as role models for women today. He expressed gratitude to all grandmothers, mothers, and sisters who have testified to Christ in their lives.
Patriarch Daniel also recognized and thanked the women working in various medical and social care settings for their comforting and supportive roles.
The Myrrh-bearing Women – Witnesses of the Lord’s Resurrection
Christ is Risen!
On the Sunday of the Myrrh-Bearing Women, we honor these women as examples of courage, faith, and humility in the Church. They followed Christ and supported His ministry, witnessing His Passion and Resurrection.
These women, including Mary Magdalene, Mary the mother of James and Joseph, Salome, Joanna, Susanna, Martha, and Mary, symbolize the strength and dedication of Christian women in various roles within society.
As the Romanian Orthodox Church celebrates the National Day of the Family and the Sunday of Christian Women, it acknowledges and appreciates the contributions of women in nurturing faith, caring for the sick, and supporting social well-being.
During the Commemorative Year of Pastoral Care and Assistance of the Sick, special recognition is given to women working in healthcare and social services for their vital role in providing comfort and companionship to those in need.
On this occasion, we express gratitude to Christian women for their devotion and service, wishing them health, joy, and God’s blessings as they continue to spread the message of Christ’s Resurrection.
