On December 12, 2024, Patriarch Kirill of Moscow and All Russia had a phone conversation with Patriarch John X of Antioch and All the East.
During the call, Patriarch Kirill reassured the Primate of the Antiochian Patriarchate of his prayers for the Patriarch and the entire Antiochian Orthodox Church, which is currently facing significant challenges.
“The Russian people stand in solidarity with your people, and our Church stands in solidarity with your Church, Your Beatitude,” Patriarch Kirill emphasized. “I want to convey our support and hope that these temporary difficulties will soon pass, and peace and justice will be restored for you and your people. We are committed to providing all possible assistance to the Holy Church of Antioch. It is vital for our Churches to maintain the strong relationship we have cultivated over the years.”
Patriarch John X provided Patriarch Kirill with an update on the current situation in various parts of Syria, the challenges faced by the Antiochian Church, and its daily realities. He expressed deep gratitude for Patriarch Kirill’s prayers, care, and support, expressing his anticipation of future meetings.
The conversation, characterized by brotherly love, delved into various aspects of the bilateral relationship between the two Churches. Both leaders reaffirmed their dedication to ongoing collaboration and mutual support in the midst of enduring challenges.
