During the celebration of the miraculous Kazan Icon of the Mother of God on November 4, 2024, Patriarch Kirill of Moscow highlighted the strong bonds and brotherly relationship between the Russian and Serbian peoples, who share common values and cultural traditions.
Patriarch Kirill led the Divine Liturgy at the Patriarchal Cathedral of the Dormition of the Theotokos in the Moscow Kremlin, with Serbia’s Deputy Prime Minister, Aleksandar Vulin, and other high-ranking Serbian officials in attendance, including the Serbian Ambassador to Russia, Momčilo Babić, and Advisor to the Deputy Prime Minister, Ivan Mirković.
Following the Liturgy, a prayer service took place before the Kazan Icon of the Mother of God, which was rediscovered the previous year, adding to the spiritual significance of the day.
During a meeting at the patriarchal office, Mr. Vulin conveyed warm greetings from Serbian President Aleksandar Vučić and Serbian Patriarch Porfirije, expressing gratitude for Patriarch Kirill’s contributions to Russia’s prosperity and the continuous strengthening of Russian-Serbian friendship.
Patriarch Kirill welcomed the Serbian delegation, emphasizing the close bond between the Russian and Serbian Orthodox Churches and their shared commitment to truth. He praised the strong Orthodox faith of both peoples, highlighting their resilience in choosing truth and freedom throughout history.
As a token of appreciation and friendship, Patriarch Kirill presented Deputy Prime Minister Vulin with patriarchal medals, recognizing Serbia’s unwavering support and dedication to upholding the shared values of both nations.
