On the morning hours of Friday, 3rd January 2025, the novice Christos was tonsured a monk by Patriarch of Jerusalem, Theophilos, in the presence of the Holy Sepulchre Fathers. Until now, he has been serving at the Church of the Holy Sepulchre.
During this tonsure, His Beatitude named novice Christos as Monk Gerasimos, blessed him and gave him fatherly admonitions.
Visit to the Holy Monastery of Saint John the Baptist in Jerusalem
Subsequently, His Beatitude, accompanied by the Holy Sepulchre Fathers, visited the Holy Monastery of Saint John the Baptist and inspected the work to reclaim the Patriarchate’s property in the shops that obstructed access to the monastery’s entrances.
This was made possible by the strong financial support of the monastery’s Hegoumen, Archimandrite Bartholomew. His Beatitude praised Archimandrite Bartholomew for his efforts and overall renovation work at the monastery.
