On Thursday, 15th August 2024, at 11:00 a.m. the funeral service of the Abbess Eupraxia who came from Cyprus to the Monastery of the sisters of Lazarus Martha and Mary in Bethany was presided over by Patriarch of Jerusalem Theophilos.
Co-officiating with Patriarch Theophilos were their Eminences, the Archbishops, Dorotheos of Avila, Philoumenos of Pella, the Metropolitan Joachim of Helenoupolis, along with many Holy Sepulchre Fathers and Arabic-speaking priests, under the chanting of the Hierodeacon Simeon and monk Joseph of Mount Athos. The service was attended by the nuns of this Monastery and other Holy Monasteries of the Patriarchate, in the presence of the representative of the Greek Consulate General Mr Athanasios Malios and the representative of the Russian Church of the Diaspora, Archimandrite Romanos the abbot of the Holy Monastery of Mary Magdalene and the Mount of Olives and many believers from Jerusalem and other towns.
At the blessing of the Beatitude, the Elder Chief Secretary, Archbishop Aristarchos of Constantina read the Obituary (see video).
After the Funeral Service, the departed abbess Eupraxia was interred in the Cemetery of the Monastery.
Subsequently, the nuns of the Monastery accepted the condolences of the Patriarch, His Entourage and all the participants in the funeral Procession, at the rectory of the Monastery.
