Today, the Church of Christ is spreading the gospel of unspeakable joy to the world. It proclaims the Resurrection of Jesus Christ, the Nazarene, the Crucified, to the ends of the earth. Jesus Christ, the Son and Word of God, became Incarnate of the Holy Spirit and Mary the Virgin, born in the flesh and seen on earth.
He took on our human flesh in one hypostasis, the Humanity, and in two natures, the Divine and the human. He taught us the ways of repentance, living in peace, solidarity, and love, even towards our enemies. He healed the sick and raised the dead.
He loved us to the end and willingly sacrificed Himself for us, shedding His divine blood for the forgiveness of our sins. He offered Himself as a living sacrifice, redeeming and pleasing to God.
After being crucified and buried, Jesus descended to Hades, including those who had died for ages and were held by the devil in His saving redemptive work. He preached to them and saved those who believed in Him from eternal torment.
By the power of the Father, Jesus Christ triumphed over death, resurrecting and granting eternal life to those in Hades. The Church celebrates His victory over death with joy and praise.
After His Resurrection, Jesus Christ sent the Holy Spirit to His disciples, empowering them to spread the message of the Cross and Resurrection. He ascended into heaven, sitting at the right hand of the Father, and sent the Spirit of truth to guide and strengthen His followers.
Through the Holy Spirit, the disciples became fervent heralds of the Gospel, spreading the message of Christ’s victory over death. The Church, as the manifestation of His kingdom on earth, continues this work of reconciliation and evangelism throughout the world.
In these challenging times of war and conflict, the Church of Jerusalem calls for peace and unity among the Orthodox Churches. It urges all to embrace the Easter message of Christ’s victory and to be of good cheer, for He has overcome the world.
