On the morning of Saturday, August 24, 2024, Patriarch Theophilos of Jerusalem visited the Holy Monastery of the Holy Cross, accompanied by the Consul General of Greece in Jerusalem, Dimitrios Angelosopoulos, Phaedon Kydoniatis, and the Abbot of the Monastery, Archimandrite Christodoulos.
The purpose of the visit was to oversee the significant maintenance work being carried out on the Monastery’s premises, with a particular focus on the extensive library of the historic School of the Holy Cross. This vital project is under the expert supervision of conservator Stavros Andreou and is sponsored by Athanasios Martinou.
Thanks to this generous sponsorship, new iron rolling display cases have been constructed to safely house many of the valuable books and antiquities within the Monastery’s renowned library.
