On Thursday, June 20, 2024, Patriarch Theophilos of Jerusalem welcomed several visitors, starting with Father Mark of the Austrian Hospice Foundation and ten volunteers from Austria. The Patriarch discussed the history and activities of the Patriarchate, highlighting the ecclesiastical jurisdiction and privileges of each Patriarch of Jerusalem throughout history.
Later, the Patriarch met with George Noll, the General Diplomatic Representative of the American Embassy in Israel for Palestinian Affairs, to discuss the Patriarchate’s work within the Palestinian Authority and Gaza, emphasizing the connection between the Old and New Testaments.
Following this, the Patriarch engaged in discussions with various individuals, including Ode Kawas, head of the Arabic-speaking Schools of the Patriarchate, and teacher Panayiotan Kafetji regarding teaching the Greek language within the Arabic-speaking community. Additionally, Dib Youssef and his spouse presented an Arabic translation of the work of the late professor Fr. Georgios Kapsanis.
The Patriarch also met with Fr. Konstanti, head of the Yaffo community, and Archimandrite Parthenios, Abbot of the Monastery of Prophet Elisha in Jericho, who invited him to a celebration at the monastery.
In the evening, Patriarch Theophilos blessed a gathering of Orthodox Scouts at the Notre Dame Hotel, attended by various dignitaries. The event marked the establishment of the Local Council of Jerusalem and recognized the Scouts for their contributions to humanitarian activities.
