On October 14, 2024, the Orthodox Church celebrated the feast day of Saint Paraskevi (of Epivatis). Patriarch Daniel of Bulgaria led a special vesper service at the Church of Saint Paraskevi in honor of the occasion.
During his address to the congregation, Patriarch Daniel spoke about the importance of seeking help and solace from Saint Paraskevi. He highlighted her life, noting that those who have experienced her grace feel a personal connection to her. The Patriarch emphasized the significance of living a life hidden in God, just as Saint Paraskevi did. Despite being unknown during her lifetime, she dedicated herself to prayer, love, and asceticism, ultimately attaining God’s grace through her virtuous deeds.
Patriarch Daniel stressed that prayer is a powerful tool for all Christians, not just monks. He encouraged the faithful to cultivate a pure heart through prayer, faith, and selflessness. By following the example of Saint Paraskevi, believers can strive for salvation and eternal life in God’s kingdom. The Patriarch concluded his message by invoking God’s blessings upon the gathered congregation.
