During a meeting at the Sofia Holy Metropolis, Bulgarian Patriarch Daniel expressed his belief in the great benefits that would come to the capital if its citizens were honest, caring, and brotherly. The Mayor of Sofia, Vasil Terziev, along with Bishop Pachomius of Branitsa and Assoc. Prof. Dr. Maria Kyoseva, Legal Counselor of the Holy Synod, were in attendance.
Mayor Terziev congratulated Patriarch Daniel on his election and emphasized the importance of dedicated service to the Bulgarian people. Patriarch Daniel, in return, thanked the Sofia Municipality and the Mayor for their cooperation and positive initiatives with the Sofia Holy Bishopric.
Both parties discussed the need for cooperation among all institutions for the benefit of the community. Mayor Terziev shared details of an initiative for building kindergartens and schools in the capital’s districts in collaboration with the Church.
Patriarch Daniel highlighted the importance of prioritizing communal interests over personal ones to foster harmonious relationships and societal well-being. He stressed the role of the Church in supporting individuals to achieve personal and public goods.
Common initiatives for collaboration between the Sofia Holy Bishopric and Sofia Municipality were identified during the meeting, aiming to deepen their partnership further.
As a gesture of goodwill, Patriarch Daniel presented Mayor Terziev with an icon of the Mother of God, encouraging him to seek her intercession and support in his duties.
