Patriarch John X of Antioch and All the East led the Divine Liturgy for the Sunday of Orthodoxy, which marks the beginning of Great Lent, at the Mariamitic Cathedral in Damascus.
Assisting in the service were Bishops, Archimandrite Philip Vasiltsev, representing the Patriarch of Moscow to the Patriarchate of Antioch, along with several priests and deacons.
The Greek Ambassador Emmanuel Kakavelakis and Member of the European Parliament Nikolaos Farantouris were among the attendees, emphasizing the significance of the occasion for both the local and international Orthodox communities.
After the Divine Liturgy, the special prayer for the Sunday of Orthodoxy was recited, reaffirming the Church’s unwavering dedication to the Orthodox faith and the reverence of holy icons.
