Patriarch Theodore of Alexandria spoke out against the unauthorized intrusion of the Russian Church into Africa during his address in Crete, where he was bestowed with the title of honorary citizen of the Municipality of Rethymno.
He emphasized the unwavering spirit of the Patriarchate in standing against all forms of violence, injustice, and exploitation.
The Patriarch condemned the illicit intervention of the Russian Church, accusing it of disregarding ecclesiastical laws and principles. He criticized the use of secular methods and financial influence to undermine the traditions upheld by the Fathers and Ecumenical Councils over centuries.
He vowed to continue advocating for the preservation of sacred traditions and values, urging others to stand firm and uphold these teachings for future generations.
Reflecting on his work in Africa, the Patriarch described the continent as the “continent of the future” and praised the children for their innocence and ability to find joy in simple things, celebrating and singing to God.
