On Sunday, November 24, 2024, Patriarch Theodore II of Alexandria and All Africa presided over the Divine Liturgy at the Cathedral of the Holy Trinity in Harare, the capital of Zimbabwe.
The Patriarch was warmly welcomed in the cathedral courtyard by Metropolitan Seraphim of Zimbabwe, diplomatic representatives from Greece, Egypt, and Cyprus, Greek officials, members of the Greek Diaspora, and a large gathering of faithful.
Concelebrating with Patriarch Theodore were Metropolitan Seraphim of Zimbabwe, Metropolitan Panteleimon of Angola, and Metropolitan George of Guinea. In his welcoming address, Metropolitan Seraphim praised the Patriarch’s leadership and his contributions to pan-Orthodox and international forums on critical issues such as climate change and poverty.
During the service, Patriarch Theodore conferred the title of Archontissa of the Diasporic Cypriot Hellenism upon Mrs. Eleni Koumidou and the title of Archon Dikaiophylax upon Mr. Ioannis Travlos, recognizing their dedication to the Church and the Greek-Cypriot community abroad.
Following the Divine Liturgy, a festive celebration took place, which included a special prayer service for Cyprus. In the evening, the Ambassador of Egypt hosted a reception in honor of the Patriarch, emphasizing the Egyptian government’s unwavering support for the mission of the Patriarchate of Alexandria.
