On the Feast of the Virgin Mary, the Divine Liturgy was celebrated at the Church of the Dormition of the Virgin Mary in Alexandria. The service was presided over by Patriarch Theodore II of Alexandria and All Africa, alongside Metropolitan Narcissus of Pelusium and Metropolitan Germanos of Tamiathus.
Among those present were Ioannis Pyrgakis, the Consul General of Greece in Alexandria, accompanied by his spouse Katerina; Andreas Vafiadis, President of the Greek Community of Alexandria; Ali Karamouch, Consul General of Lebanon; and Fouad Farah, President of the Arabic-speaking community, along with the Board of Directors. Also in attendance were Dimitrios Kalomirakis, representing the President of the Greek Naval Club of Egyptians (ENOA) and Ptolemy I; Lilika Thlivitou, President of the Arabic-speaking community at the Church of St. Anthony; Adel Boutros, representative of the Armenian Church; and many Orthodox believers.
After the Divine Liturgy, attendees were invited to the Archontariki on the first floor, where a traditional treat was served in celebration of the Feast of the Virgin Mary, observed annually on August 15.
Following this, a luncheon was held for institutional representatives at the Greek Naval Club of Egyptians (ENOA). The day concluded with engaging dialogue, meaningful communication, and the exchange of well-wishes among the participants.
Through its President, Andreas Vafiadis, the Greek Community of Alexandria extended heartfelt wishes to all believers, both Arabic-speaking and non-Arabic-speaking. They offered prayers for health, peace, love, and, most importantly, strength to help navigate the challenging times that humanity is currently enduring.
