Patriarch Theodore II of Alexandria and All Africa, upon hearing about the passing of Archon Vaios Prantzos, a dedicated supporter of the ancient Patriarchate of Alexandria in its missionary work in Africa, conducted a memorial service for the repose of his soul at the Patriarchal Monastery of Saint Savvas the Sanctified.
The late Archon Vaios Prantzos served as President of the Brotherhood of the External Mission in Thessaloniki for several years.
In his address to the faithful and students of the School of Saint Athanasius the Great, the Patriarch highlighted the many gifts bestowed upon him by the Lord.
“He nurtured these gifts and, through his life centered on Christ and his good deeds, brought glory to Him.
With great love and personal dedication, he worked tirelessly to ensure that the Word of God reached even the most remote areas of Africa.
He dedicated himself to establishing churches, schools, hospitals, and other institutions that spread love and warmth to thousands of people. He supported the Patriarch and the Holy Hierarchs with a deep sense of duty.
He experienced the joy of visiting cities and villages in Africa, offering his expertise as a civil engineer and theologian, and enduring hardships for the love of Christ. May the Holy Fathers of the Mission—Chrysostomos, Chariton, and Kosmas—accompany him on his journey to eternity. The people of Africa are praying… We all extend a heartfelt THANK YOU to him!
May the Lord grant him rest from his labors and welcome him into the paradise of joy!”
Lastly, the Patriarch expressed his sincere condolences to his wife, relatives, Metropolitan Nikolaos of Mesogaia and Lavreotiki, and Fr. Asterios Hatzinikolaou and his team, who have taken on the responsibility to continue his work pleasing to God.
