On July 23, 2024, Patriarch Theodore II of Alexandria and All Africa participated in the Divine Liturgy at the Patriarchal Monastery of Saint Savvas the Sanctified in Alexandria. A holy memorial was conducted after the service to commemorate his predecessor and mentor, Patriarch Parthenios III of Alexandria, who led from 1986 to 1997.
During the touching ceremony, Patriarch Theodore shared personal anecdotes and memories from the time of the late Patriarch’s leadership, expressing his deep admiration and reverence for Parthenios III. He reflected on his ordination to the priesthood under Parthenios III, when he served as the Auxiliary Bishop of the Diocese of Cyrene.
It was also mentioned that on July 20, Patriarch Theodore had performed a memorial service at the tombs of his late predecessors, Nicholas VI and Parthenios III, in Cairo.
