On January 1, 2025, Metropolitan Epifaniy of Kyiv and All Ukraine celebrated the Divine Liturgy of Saint Basil the Great at the St. Michael’s Golden-Domed Cathedral in Kyiv. The service coincided with the Feast of the Circumcision of the Lord and the commemoration of Saint Basil the Great, Archbishop of Caesarea in Cappadocia.
Bishop Yefrem of Vasylkiv, the monastic brotherhood of the Golden-Domed Monastery, and invited clergy joined His Beatitude in concelebration. Together, they offered prayers for the soldiers defending Ukraine, for the government and people, and for the souls of all fallen defenders and civilians.
His Beatitude delivered a sermon and offered a special prayer for Ukraine during these times of danger. He also recited a prayer for the New Year, invoking God’s blessing upon Ukraine for victory and the establishment of a just peace.
