Metropolitan Cleopas of Sweden and All Scandinavia, upon hearing of the passing of the Protopresbyter of the Ecumenical Throne, Seraphim Farasoglou, offered a prayer for the repose of his soul at St. George’s Cathedral in Stockholm. He also informed the flock of the Mother Church of Constantinople in Scandinavia about this sad event with feelings of sorrow and hope.
Describing the late Protopresbyter, the Metropolitan said: “An exemplary family man, he was fortunate to create a family with his wife Vasiliki based on Christian principles. They generously offered their daughters to the Church, who went on to dedicate themselves to the monastic order.”
Reflecting on his journey, the Metropolitan shared: “The late Protopresbyter Seraphim Farasoglou received both degrees of Priesthood in the courtyards of the Mother Church. He joined the Clergy of the Holy Metropolis of Sweden and All Scandinavia on December 1, 1974, under the invitation of the late Metropolitan Paul of Amaseia. He served as the Hierarchical Head of the Holy Church of St. John the Theologian in Stockholm, followed by the Cathedral of St. George in Stockholm. Additionally, he took on the roles of Secretary and Protosyncellus of the Holy Metropolis.”
Expressing gratitude for his contributions, the Metropolitan mentioned: “I am thankful for his assistance in providing valuable archival and historical material for my research project titled: ‘The Missionary Ministry of Archimandrite Eusebius Vittis in Scandinavia, 1965-1980’.”
Continuing his service, the late Protopresbyter served in the Holy Metropolis of Peristeri from 1987 to 2021 as the Hierarchical Head of the Parish Church of the Holy Archangels (former), dedicating himself to the ministry of spreading the word of God.
In conclusion, the Metropolitan offered a heartfelt wish: “May your soul unite with the Angels and the Saints at the heavenly altar, where praises of glory to the Lord resound.”
